Scooter Basic Rider Course (SBRC)
Description:

The Scooter Basic Rider Course (SBRC) is a basic, entry-level, learn-to-ride scooter training and education course. During the course, the student will learn to
demonstrate fundamental skills for scooter operation and control; demonstrate a knowledge of minimum safety
considerations for operating a scooter legally on the street; acknowledge the importance of a low-risk and positive riding attitude; demonstrate safety habits
that are shown to reduce risk; acknowledge personal capabilities and limitations as a scooter rider; and overall, acquire the basic knowledge and skills to be a
safe, responsible rider.
Classroom experiences consist of approximately 5 hours of RiderCoach led discussions and the utilization of interactive multimedia. Riding experience is gained
by using several different riding exercises that progress from basic control use to more complex street maneuvers. The riding portion is approximately10 hours
of riding consisting of two 4 to 5 hour sessions each day. On-motorcycle instruction is conducted on a paved area away from street traffic. There is both an
exam after the classroom portion and an exam after completion of all the riding exercises. Students must pass both portions to receive their MSF certification.
Students must come to the class properly prepared to ride with long sleeved shirt or jacket, long pants, over the ankle footwear, full fingered gloves, eye
protection, and DOT approved helmet. Arkansas Safe Rider has a limited number of " loaner" helmets, gloves and eye protection.
Scooters must be furnished by the student and must have an engine size of 50 CCs or more, step through design, automatic transmission or hand operated clutch/shift mechanism, and DOT approved for sale in the U.S. To be used in class, the scooter must pass a basic safety inspection by the RiderCoach.
